My 7 Day LiveFit Foods Cleanse

Part of my personal goals for 2020 was to improve my health, and stop feeling like a lazy sack everyday. I've slowly been starting to go to the gym regularly (4-5 days/week) and I've been trying to be more conscious of what I'm eating and drinking. I find it hard to get into the groove sometimes, and I thought this time around I could use a little *kickstart* to get my ass in gear.

Last year I kept seeing a lot of people trying out LiveFit Foods on my socials. To me it was just another one of those "meal kit" delivery services, and I usually just swiped past it without giving it a second thought. When I started focusing in a little more on my health and I was scrounging Instagram for meal ideas, LiveFit Foods kept popping up time and time again. So I thought to myself, OKAY what IS this REALLY??

Turns out, LiveFit foods is not actually a "meal kit" service. It's a meal prep service! I hate meal prep because I hate leftovers. I've always been a weirdo when it comes to leftovers because 90% of foods I won't eat after their initial day of life. Pastas and pizzas, yes of course. But mostly everything else? Not a chance. NOT A CHANCE.

Turns out I'm not as big of a weirdo as I thought, and there are actually tons of other like-minded people out there who hate leftovers as much as I do. Surprisingly, none of those people seemed to be having issues with LiveFit Foods, so I decided to give it the good old College try and take a stab at it for a week to see what happens. A friend of mine had a referral code for $50 off, so at least it wasn't going to cost me full price if I absolutely hated it.

The Cleanse

I searched their website for a package that would be right for me, and I came across their "Fresh Organic Juice Cleanse" and I was intrigued. I've always wanted to try a juice cleanse, especially one from Pulp & Press. Their package had 7 days worth of meals and juices and the meals were high-protein options meant to keep you as full as possible throughout the day. The package was also on sale from $135 to $105! Plus I had the extra $50 off. SO DUH, obviously I had to try it.

With this package there were only about 12 meal options, and there were only 7 juice options. With the meals I only liked about six of them, so I doubled up on one I thought I'd like the best rather than ordering something I was feeling only so-so about. I also had to avoid any seafood options because I've been having an aversion to seafood lately (sad face). I put my order in and about a week later a gigantic insulated box showed up on my doorstep.

This package had instructions:

1. Eat a regular Breakfast

2. Eat a LiveFit meal for Lunch

3. Drink a Pulp & Press Cold Press juice for Dinner

For the entire week I tried hard to stick to these instructions, but since my day schedule is a bit abnormal I would just eat my regular breakfast (usually around 1-2pm) and then I would have my LiveFit meal and my juice together for dinner (7-8pm). I usually go to the gym late night so I would also have a protein shake after the gym to round out my day. This seemed to work pretty decent for me.

My Results

The first day or two were easy because I felt pretty psyched about it. The middle of the week I started to feel a little lethargic and tired and I had some stomach pain (pretty normal with a liver cleanse apparently) and then the end of the week I felt just awesome again with a bit more energy. LiveFit said that this "cleanse" would help with weight loss, digestion, and kicking cravings. I would say it definitely did all three successfully. I also only had one day where I had some alcohol, which is a big win for me too.

The Food

I love Pulp & Press, so I knew that the cold press juices were not going to be a problem. The food was a whole other story and I was sooooo pleasantly surprised. The food was UN-FREAKIN-REAL. I couldn't even tell the food was pre-cooked meal prep. I just threw it in the oven for 25 minutes, stirred it well and scarfed it down like any other meal. The food was so delicious and filling that sometimes I couldn't even finish my entire meal. What I loved the most is that it listed the ingredients right on the container with the macros and nutrition information so I could easily track my intake in MyFitnessPal. I could actually pronounce all of the ingredients too!

I thought I'd give you a little insight into what I ordered and what I would rate each meal out of 10:

Roasted Pork Tenderloin with Apple Reduction: 6/10

Teriyaki Chicken: 3/10

Korean BBQ Beef: 10/10

Roast Chicken and Homemade Mushroom Pan Gravy: 8/10 (the mashed potatoes in it were a straight 10/10)

Tender Beef Mac & Cheese (2x): 10/10

Roast Beef with Peppercorn Demi-glace: Not Rated~~ (I put it away in the freezer to eat at another date...)

Surprisingly, the Teriyaki Chicken was my least favourite dish and it was one of the ones I was looking forward to the most so I was a bit sad about that. The Korean BBQ Beef and the Mac & Cheese were BY FAR my favourites of the batch, so I'm really happy I ordered two Mac & Cheese dishes.

Overall Opinion

Overall I was SO happy with my experience with LiveFit Foods. On a weekly basis I don't think I would be able to eat their meals every single day, but I could definitely see myself putting in a large order once in a while and keeping some meals on-hand in the freezer for those days when you just REALLLLY don't want to cook, but you also don't want to smash some fast junk food. The food is good for 5 days in the fridge and 90 in the freezer, so I'd be more than happy to keep some stuff on-hand for those days.

They also have some other great options like breakfast foods, snacks, supplements and drinks.

I already have my next cart full online and I'll be putting in another order ASAP! I think it's such a great alternative to a crappy processed TV dinner and junk food, because the food is local (Ontario) and hand-made by their chefs. I also like the huge variety of other foods they have on the website. Definitely TWO thumbs up from me on this one. Great job LiveFit Foods, you've earned yourself a new customer!
